The routine of oral health for the little ones can start with gentle massages of the gums as soon as their first tooth appears. Later they can start using a soft tooth brush.

Do not wait until a problem arises! Baby teeth, although they are temporary, are just as important as permanent teeth. They have to be kept healthy as they serve as guide that will define the future health of your child. When the child reaches one year of age, it is a good time to start taking them to the dentist. By doing this, cavities can be prevented, the child can experience a pleasant visit and have the opportunity to meet the dentist in a nonthreatening and friendly way.

Establishing an oral hygiene routine

Good dental health begins with you so don’t wait. Start a healthy oral hygiene routine today! Below are some simple recommendations so you and your family can remain beautiful and healthy:

  • Floss at least twice a day. Flossing is essential. It helps to remove plaque between the teeth in areas the toothbrush does not reach

  • Brush your teeth preferably after each meal. Use a soft bristle brush. Change your tooth brush every three months, or sooner if the bristles wear out

  • Use a good mouth rinse. In addition to refreshing the breath, it helps prevent or control cavities, reduce bacterial plaque, prevent or reduce gingivitis and reduce the formation of tartar on teeth.

  • Use toothpaste with sodium fluoride. Check that it has the Seal of Acceptance from the American Dental Association. This guarantees that the product is safe and has the benefits and proper formulation to protect your teeth

  • Eat healthy foods. Food also influences oral health. Avoid too many sweets because sugar produces acid which attacks the teeth and creates cavities.
